
It all started with Peter, the father of one of our co-founders.
Peter lived abroad, far from parts of his family, and technology was how he stayed connected. He was curious, intelligent, and genuinely interested in new things, including AI. But as he got older, everyday technology became harder to use. Typing was difficult, menus were confusing, and small mistakes felt risky.
He wanted to stay independent, connected, and use modern technology. But the tools around him weren’t built with him in mind.
Around the same time, I saw the same struggle even closer to home. My grandmother Imke is one of the most curious and independent people I know. She loves learning and staying informed. Yet passwords, updates, and constantly changing interfaces turned simple tasks into exhausting ones.
Two different people. Two different families. The same problem.
That’s when it became clear: this wasn’t about “learning technology better.” It was about technology finally meeting people where they are.
